POLITICAL THRILLER AUTHOR

Phillip Mink writes political thrillers about fanatics who plunge nations into ideological warfare. Left or Right doesn’t matter. What matters is the impulse to impose their rigid belief systems, no matter how extreme, upon nonbelievers.

Mink’s literary journey began at age 13 with Boris Pasternak’s Doctor Zhivago. He was living in Mississippi at the height of Jim Crow, and he recognized something familiar in the violent aftermath of the Russian Revolution. In college, he learned how easily ideology excuses atrocity. Law school showed him how litigants can rationalize whatever they do.

Then a fiction-writing scholarship took him to the University of Virginia, where he worked with Pulitzer Prize-winning author Peter Taylor. After practicing law in Charlottesville, VA, and Washington, DC, he turned to writing The Heathen Paradise, with two favorite lodestars: The Manchurian Candidate and The Silence of the Lambs.

Mink loves relentless narratives, complex plots, and compelling prose. And while he writes thrillers set in terrifying circumstances, he is also a sucker for romantic love, the kind where passion brings you to your knees.

Phillip Mink is an author who brings a unique blend of legal knowledge and creative prowess to his storytelling. He graduated from law school in Mississippi. He also studied under the Pulitzer-Prize-winning author Peter Taylor at the University of Virginia, where he was awarded a prestigious Henry Hoyns Fellowship in Creative Writing.

Phillip practiced law in Washington, DC, for several years before becoming an educator. He now teaches writing and trains pre-law students at a university in Washington, DC. He takes pride in shaping the next generation of legal minds and literary talent.
